    À partir d’une approche fondée sur une conception sociale et constructiviste du paysage, l’auteur analyse l’implantation d’une usine par la multinationale Alcan, dans la commune d’Alma, au Québec. Permettre aux acteurs territoriaux de parler de leurs paysages contribue, selon elle, à mieux saisir leurs préoccupations, à comprendre les rapports de cohabitation avec la grande industrie et les facteurs d’évaluation et d’acceptabilité sociale de sa présence, de même que, plus largement, à éclairer les débats sociaux pour un développement régional viable.

     

    
    
    

    Thanks to an approach based on a social and constructivist conception of landscape, the author analyzes the setting up of a factory by the multinational company Alcan, in the city of Alma, Quebec. According to her, allowing people to talk about the landscape in which they live helps to better understand their concerns, the ways the local population copes with big industry, as well as the different factors of assessment and social acceptability of its presence. More generally, it also helps to throw light on the social debates concerning the durable development of the community.
